Laia supports the data collection and accountability programs at the Maryland State Department of Education where she provides technical assistance and support to local school districts and agency staff. She believes that compliance and common sense can work together to create effective data governance. Laia is the lead staffer for the Maryland Student Data Privacy Council and organizes the MSDE Student Data Governance Workgroup. Laia occasionally serves as a general for the Rebel Alliance.
