Dr. Kyle M. L. Jones is an assistant professor in the Department of Library and Information Science within the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University-Indianapolis (IUPUI). He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison iSchool, an M.L.I.S. from Dominican University’s School of Information Studies, and a B.A. from Elmhurst College. Dr. Jones’s research focuses on information ethics and policy issues associated with educational data mining and analytic practices, such as learning analytics, within American higher education institutions. His published research is accessible in top journals, like the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology; Learning, Media and Technology; Communications of the ACM; Journal of Documentation; College & Research Libraries; and other journals. He has received $1.1 million in funding for projects on student privacy. His research has been featured in national and international news outlets, such as The Washington Post and National Public Radio (NPR).
