Students, Data, and Blurred Lines: A Closer Look at Google’s Aim to Organize U.S. Youth and Student Information

To the extent that certain Internet business models such as targeted advertising may conflict with our expectations for the privacy and security of student data, the author argues that it is essential to shape these business models through appropriate regulatory intervention now, before trust in technology in the classroom is irremediably compromised. This paper will offer a case study of how one such company, Google, participates in this dynamic.
